Every Street vs CityStrides

Both count which streets of your city you’ve covered, and both call a street done at 90 %. CityStrides is a website that gets your runs and walks from Strava, Garmin and other services, processes them on its servers and works in any city on OpenStreetMap. Every Street is a phone app that records and matches your walks on the phone, needs no account and no other service, and covers 27 cities with achievements of their own.

As of 30 September 2026. Facts about CityStrides come from its own website and community forum (see Sources).

Questions

Is Every Street a CityStrides alternative?

Yes, for walking your own city with your phone: both track which streets you’ve completed. Every Street records and matches your walks on the phone without an account or Strava; CityStrides syncs activities from services like Strava or Garmin and works in any city worldwide.

Does CityStrides have an app?

No. CityStrides is a website, which you can add to your phone’s home screen. It needs a tracking service such as Strava or Garmin to record your activities.

How do the two decide when a street is complete?

CityStrides checks the street’s OpenStreetMap nodes: a node counts when you pass within 25 m, and a street is complete at 90 % of its nodes (all of them for streets with fewer than 10). Every Street measures the street’s length: sample points every 10 m count within 20 m when you walk along the street, and a street is done at 90 % of its length.

Can I use both?

Yes. If you record in Strava, CityStrides can sync those activities, and Every Street can import Strava’s export file. Every Street’s own walks can be saved to Apple Health or Health Connect.
