Zurich is compact, and much of it slopes down towards the water. Bahnhofstrasse walks from the main station to the lake, and Along the Lake follows the quays from Mythenquai round to Seefeldquai. The Limmat flows out of the lake through the Old Town, and Across the Limmat crosses every bridge and footbridge from the Quaibrücke out to Werdhölzli.

On both banks, Old Town Gassen leads you through the lanes from the Niederdorf to the Rennweg, past the Grossmünster and the Fraumünster. Zürichberg Stairways climbs above Oberstrass, Fluntern and Hottingen. Twelve districts, and every Quartier its own small puzzle.
