Washington, D.C. has a plan you can feel under your feet. The streets meet at the Capitol and split into four quadrants, and Four Quadrants asks you to walk 1st Street in NW, NE, SE and SW. The Alphabet Streets runs from C to W across Northwest, and State Avenues collects the avenues named after the states, Massachusetts Avenue among them.

Pennsylvania Avenue gets a badge of its own, from the Capitol past the White House to Georgetown. For something greener, the Rock Creek Trail follows a wooded valley through the city, and Across the Anacostia takes you over the river on four bridges. Eight wards, one neighborhood at a time.
